American Poetry

In this class, we will learn about five different American poets, read their poems, as well as learn literary devices to make your poetry stand out. Among the poets studied will be: Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson and Langston Hughes. We will discuss rhyme and rhythm and learn how rhyme schemes add to the richness of a poem.

Students will have a homework assignment for each class. Each assignment is due not less than four hours before the next class with the last assignment being due not more than 48 hours after the close of the last session.

This class is suitable for students who have finished 6th grade. It is a sophisticated class for middle school students, and a basic class for older students.
