The five paragraph essay is the classic model used for many years for writing a middle school or high school essay. This structure depends on the student's ability to write clear, logical paragraphs and adds to that knowledge to help them create larger, more sophisticated essays. This type of essay is essential to any kind of writing, giving the student a logical plan that they can then choose to use whenever they must write, or use as a stepping stone to their own style.
Each student will write three essays written in this class, with homework due after each class. Each piece of writing will be due at least four hours before the beginning of the next class. The last assignment will be due within 48 hours of the end of the session.
