This class will introduce the method that has been very successful with my students for many years. It is a five sentence paragraph that teaches students how to respond to a prompt using a quote, paraphrase and/or a detail from the story they have read.
This is an essential skill to have for those students expecting to do well in their high school classes. It is an easy to use structure that, once learned, can be adapted for any class, and any essay prompt.
After each class, the students will have a homework assignment, and send it to me at least four hours before the next class. I will review it, make comments, and then send it back to the student before class starts. Students have the option of revising that homework, using my notes, and receive a second set of comments.
The last essay, assigned on the last day of class, is due within 48 hours of the end of the session. This class is suitable for those who have finished at least the fifth grade.
